//:: Kadayawan 2009

Kadayawan is a celebration of the life and culture of the indigenous people link to the land.

The theme for this year is:

“Nahiusang Katawhan Nakigdait sa Kalibutan”

(“One People in Communion with the Earth”)

The life and culture of the indigenous peoples have always been linked to the land. Since time immemorial, Davao has been the homeland of the Indigenous People and land has become the core of their existence. If their land is lost, so is their culture and traditions. Thus, there is a need to defend the indigenous peoples’ ancestral lands for them to continually live and practice their way of life- consulting the spirits, working with nature and sharing with others. This is the main reason of celebrating the Kadayawan sa Dabaw 2009.

This year’s celebration has two main components:

Lumadnong Kasaulogan
(Indigenous Peoples Festival) - the core of the Kadayawan Festival showcasing our indigenous peoples’ culture and arts.

Subay sa Lumadnong Kagikan (Contemporary Indigenous-motivated Celebrations) - showcases the impact of the indigenous culture and traditions to contemporary artists and communities.

//:: Ferrari 458 Italia

Officially Official: Ferrari 458 Italia announced!
Months of speculations and spy shots while Ferrari tests their new car, Maranello has finally revealed the mid-engined V8 replacement for the already amazing Ferrari F430. The all-new Ferrari 458 Italia. It won't be shown in public until September's Frankfurt Motor Show, but the official details were released. A new direct-injected 4.5-liter V8 ups the ante under-hood, pumping out 562 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. Did you ask for the rev limit? 9,000 rpm!!!

As with last year's Ferrari California, the Ferrari 458 Italia gets an F1 style seven-speed dual clutch gearbox that directs power to the rear axle. Much has been done to reduce internal friction within the new V8, in addition aerodynamic drag improvements. As a result, the Ferrari 458 Italia's gas mileage improves to a combined 17.1 mpg (US) on the EU test cycle. As this is a Ferrari, talk of fuel consumption really does seem somewhat pointless, anyway. No mention of incorporating any type of KERS hybrid system has been made thus far. The KERS idea, you'll remember, had taken several spins around the rumor-mill over the last year or so; maybe that'll materialize at a later date.

Like its predecessor, the Ferrari 458 Italia's aluminum structure helps keep weight under control -- it tips the scales at just 3,042 pounds dry. So, we know you're wondering: How quick is it? Based on specs at least, this new coupe does't disappoint. Acceleration to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes just 3.4 seconds, and this will be the first volume production Ferrari V8 to top the 200 mph barrier, with a top whack of 202 mph.

The Ferrari 458 Italia will also be a new robot in the upcoming Transformer 3 Movie ... click here to watch video clips of the Transformers 3 filiming at Chicago.

Here's a teaser from youtube..

//:: Honda FCX Clarity

If you've ever wondered what cars will be like in the near future. Well guess no more! Cause I think it has just been answered! The Honda FCX Clarity.
I know it doesn't look as futuristic like the cars we've seen in those movies like Demolition Man (2003), Back to the future , etc.. etc..

The Honda FCX Clarity is an electric car but unlike the electric cars released before the FCX Clarity, this has no battery in it. Most electric cars carry heavy & dangerous batteries like the Tesla Roadster. Yes you are saving the planet for not burning fuel but what you don't know is how much pollution your contributing when you buy one or even charge it. Try to research on how they manufacture the batteries, where they get the materials..your actually forcing manufacturers to destroy the planet for good!

Yes there's the Toyota Prius. It's a brilliant car with a tiny petrol engine and an electric motor. The petrol engine when running runs the car and also charges the batteries (battery again!) of the car. Once the batteries are fully charge the petrol motor will just shutoff automatically and the electric motor will kick in and run the car. It's brilliant to be honest. It's a great mind, the creator of that car. The thing is.... You still have a battery on this car. There is still the danger or getting an electric shock and like what I wrote with the Tesla Roadster the battery manufacturers produces damages on the planet as they manufacture these batteries. And what will you do with the batteries as these cars get old enough not to run? Burn them? Burry them? That's a lot of pollution and waste! That's a battery for cry out loud! You don't just throw them like a piece of paper!

Back to the FCX Clarity. Yes it still has a fuel tank, yes it still powered
by electricity. The FCX Clarity is fueled with HYDROGEN Fuel Cells (Whatever that means... :D) The Hydrogen Cells will be converted into electricity by some wizzerfy doo daa under the hood of this car and then the electricity is then used to power the electric motors of the car. The great thing about this car really is that it doesn't need to be charged every night and suck up all the electricity. Imagine what your face would look like when you get your electric bill. Also, you don't have to service this car every few miles cause it doesn't have any moving part. It doesn't have an engine. You still pull up in the fuel station to fill it up with hydrogen like what you do with your car today. Only this is better cause Hydrogen will never run out. It's everywhere, around us, underneath, it's absolutely all over us.... One of the best thing about the FCX Clarity is whatever comes out out of it's tail pipe. Try to make a guess ... H meets with 2O = H2O .... Oh yes! Water! You can even drink the water coming out of it's pipe. Seriously, they did a demo on that when they released the car in California about 2 or 3 years ago.This is what I call a motoring iconic research. Where it allows us to say we are stepping forward in terms of motoring developments.

Driving a petrol powered car allows you to cover miles and miles of distance and then once you run out of fuel. You simply fill it up that would take about 3 to 5 minutes then drive miles and miles of road again. That's the freedom that you get from a petrol powered car.
So what's the point of driving a car for 10 yards then runs out of electricity and then takes about 4 hours to bring it back to life just to charge it. That's more like stepping backwards to me.

Stepping forward means it has to be better than what we already have now. The hydrogen powered FCX Clarity is it! Drive and Operate it like a petrol car but with less pollution, less maintenance, less to worry. And oh yes I know you'd be asking of it's performance.

Check this video from Top Gear's James May.

Driving along the car at over 100mph(161kph) and all you hear is a gasp of air running through the sides of your doors, it can accelerate from 0 to 62mph(100kph) in about 9.5 seconds. That's what a normal family saloon can do. It's the same performance with less damage done to the planet!

"Are you an owner of an oil company? Bwahahahahahaha"

//:: Updates - Ferrari 599XX

As promised! details of the Ferrari 599XX ...

Ferrari has released a whole bunch of shiny photos and new details on its unhinged 599XX, the hypertech track-focused edition of its front-engined supercar. And, quite frankly, that's all the excuse I need to treat you with the new photos they've released.

Just in case you've forgotten, here's the big news on the 599XX: Ferrari has revised the 6.0-litre V12 to put out a massive 700bhp at 9,000rpm. It weighs just 1,330kg, thanks to obsessive use of carbon fibre. It is, essentially, a track-only racer, armed with slick racing tyres, carbon ceramic brakes and a whole bunch of bewildering tech to improve downforce and air flow over and around the car.

Bewildering tech that includes the use of a porous material in the diffuser, and a pair of fans in the boot which channel air flowing beneath the car out through 2 grilles by the taillights. Oh, and ‘synthetic jets' (an excellent name for an indie-electronica band, no?) incorporated into the rear which, along with those mad buttresses, smooth airflow over the surface of the car. It all combines to produce 280kg of real down force at 120mph, and a massive 630kg at 185mph.

You want more tech tricks? How about a revised transmission which now changes gear in just 60 milliseconds? I'm not sure but I guess it's the same gearbox technology they have installed in the F430 Scuderia. Or F1-style ‘doughnut' brake covers? Or brake pads made from carbon fibre? What's that? The price? How does 1.1 million Euro grab you? And you don't really get to properly own the 599XX for that - instead, like the FXX programme, you become a Scuderia test driver, providing data from a bunch of invitation races to help Ferrari develop its future road cars, and getting one of only 15 599XXs thrown in as a garage ornament for good measure. If you're muttering to yourself about feckless rip-off merchants, here's one last stat for you: the 599XX lapped Ferrari's Fiorano circuit in 1m17s, just a second slower than the FXX and quicker than, well, just about everything else bar the Scuderia's F1 cars.
"I've wet meself again!"
