2011 Buick Lucerne Review

Buick is re-named after the legendary 20 th century, before starting a new level of refinement: Super. The character is shown only for the most Buick premium, powerful models and returns to Buick vehicles after 50 years. He debuted in sedan model LaCrosse and Lucerne 2008 years.

"We bring the Super badge to represent our high-end models," said Steve Shannon, Buick general manager. "Our Supers are not just more power, leading to an increase in the design, content and quality driving characteristics that are unique to the Super badge."

Design by GM Performance Division Buick supers to inspire performance on demand. LaCrosse Super is powered by a 300 hp (224 kW) 5.3L small-block V-8 with GM's Active Fuel Management. LaCrosse Super is the body to produce sport-tuned handling characteristics, and the vehicle maintains the renowned quietness inside the Buick.



Lucerne Super adds a more efficient version of the legendary 4.6L Northstar V-8. It is rated at 292 horsepower (218 kW), an increase of over 6 per cent compared to existing models. Super has been enhanced with a platform designed specifically for the version of Magnetic Ride Control system Lucerne, refined driving and premium while allowing crisp, and handling.

Buick Super: elevated design, power and performance

The design elements on the LaCrosse Super and Lucerne Super denote the new face of Buick. The design elements echo those seen in the popular vehicle Velite convertible concept - and recently introduced on the Buick Enclave luxury crossover SUV - including a new waterfall grille and portholes. The LaCrosse Super is the first and LaCrosse model offered with Buick only iconic portholes, four on each side to highlight the V-8 engine.



In addition, the distinctive design, the LaCrosse Super and Lucerne Super deliver leading-edge performance and refinement for. 5.3L and 4.6L V-8 engines are renowned for balancing performance and fuel economy. They are complemented by specially tuned suspension systems.

Like all Buick models, LaCrosse and Lucerne Supers are built with an exclusive engineering process called QuietTuning to reduce, block and absorb noise from entering the interior. The laminated glass side windows, sound insulation material in the body structure, hydraulic mounts in the engine compartment and interior noise reduction. Even exhaust nodes are optimized for sound quality in general. These features contribute to a quiet, refined ride.



While the LaCrosse and Lucerne represent the first models of the reborn Buick Super series, they will not last. Future models will share elements that reinforce the Super ethics, including:

LaCrosse Super

The LaCrosse Super is distinguished from his brother models with a new exterior appearance, highlighted by a new waterfall grille, new hood and new front fascia that includes a lower opening chrome grille with chrome trim and the edges of the fog lamp.

New windows, trim body, rear bumper incorporates park assist sensors, 3.5 inches in diameter, two chrome exhaust tips, rear spoiler and a Super badge also the LaCrosse Super instantly identifiable from any angle n. LaCrosse Super is offered in four exterior colors: Black Onyx, Platinum Metallic, Dark Mocha Metallic and Red Jewel tint coat.

LaCrosse Super introduces a V-8 engine, which is the fuel efficiency of the V-6. Rated for 300 horsepower (224 kW) and 323-lb.ft (438 Nm) of torque, the new V-8 Buick LaCrosse Super can take 0-60 mph 5.7 seconds. 5.3L small-block V-8 uses GM's Active Fuel Management (AFM), the technology of the engine without going from four to eight-cylinder power to save fuel.

In order to support the performance enabled by the V-8 engine, LaCrosse Super features especially tuned suspension system for steering precision, driving control and better feel and greater braking power. Bilstein monotube struts, larger front and rear rotors for high-precision steering, StabiliTrak, and recalibrated chassis controls help LaCrosse Super deliver handling and road manners, while maintaining overall ride comfort.

The Super version comes standard with the largest wheels and tires available on the LaCrosse - by aluminum wheels wrapped 18-inch by 7-inch all-season P235/50R18 tires. Chrome wheels are available.

Lucerne Super adds more luxury agreements

Clearly designed, Lucerne Super stands out from the waterfall grille new chrome, front and rear fascias, integrated dual exhaust tips, rocker panels, and a sign that the Super decklid. Exclusive alloy wheels and premium all-season tires complete the look, complete vehicle sport-touring attitude. Lucerne Super is available in four exterior colors: Dark Mocha Metallic, Gold Metallic, White Diamond, and Shark. The interior will be Ebony or Cocoa / Shale.



Dynamics of the Lucerne Super is refined ride and more power make it the sportiest Lucerne available. A more powerful version of the 4.6L Northstar V-8 engine provides the Lucerne Super with a great power reserves. This engine has 292 horsepower (218 kW), which is 17 horsepower (13 kW) more than the Lucerne CXS.

Lucerne Super steering new high quality, StabiliTrak stability control, brake assist and specifically calibrated system Magnetic Ride Control help provide a clear response and driver control. He rides on aluminum wheels, 18 inches 7 inches wrapped P245/50R18 all-season radials. The exclusive wheel design finished in bright silver premium. Chrome wheels are available.

The Lucerne Super interior wraps occupants in luxury with a leather-wrapped instrument panel upper with French seam stitching, unique finish on the dashboard, center console, leather seats with perforated suede fabric inserts for outboard, door inserts and suede trim. A heated steering wheel and real wood gear knob finished in burr walnut, tilt and telescopic steering column, front chrome sill plates and Buick embroidered floor mats complete the content of Lucerne Super Special.



Lucerne Super comes with three standard equipment packages, including the driver's confidence, luxury and comfort and convenience. Date & Connections OnStar with turn-by-turn voice navigation, XM Satellite Radio and Harman Kardon audio system are also standard.



All Buick models come standard with the best coverage in the industry, including a vehicle warranty four-year/50 0.000-mile, and a powertrain warranty five-year/100 0.000-mile. Buick LaCrosse Super arrives in dealerships this summer as a 2008 model. The Lucerne Super is scheduled to go on sale in spring 2008. Prices for both vehicles has not been released.
