//:: Australian GP! Here we come!

In about 2 weeks time Australia is gonna be hosting the first race of the Formula 1 2009 season. People are very excited to see how teams got on with the new radical rules changes and as some experts say... The biggest rule change since 1997. We see new radical rule changes in the aero dynamics, slick tires are back, and with the introduction of KERS.

In the first tests of the teams. No once could really tell at least alil story about the grid. As Toyota, BMW and Ferrari took Bahrain while Mclaren, Renault & Williams along with Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Honda running their 2008 cars did it in Jerez. No one could really tell who did the right thing and who made the mistake for designing the car for this season cause they are not all together on 1 track and some of the teams has not released their 2009 spec car. Came late February and early March where teams gathered at Jerez and Barcelona to test their latest setups and packages for the preparation of the Australian GP. All the teams have not brought out their 2009 cars including Force India which is now powered by Mercedez and former Honda F1 Team which is now Brawn GP team which is also now powered by Mercedez.

Alot of questions has been raised to Mclaren. "What the hell is going on with their car?" As where even Force India is making them run for their money! Mclaren's Heikki and Lewis has consistently recorded low lap times as if they where at the bottom of the list. Ferrari as usual is at the top with BMW at first. But the biggest surprise for me was Brawn GP. They have been hammering down the track and during buttons last day of test he clocked 1.19.xxx's and then the next day Rubens Barichello clock 1.18.xxx's and it was really a surprise for everyone. I think Brawn GP's aero team has done a really really good job after abandoning their development for 2008 campaign they where pretty much the first team to do the research in preparation for the coming 2009 season.

My biggest issue here is clearly Mc Laren which I should point out that I'm really happy with the news knowing they are in the middle of the field. I've read one article saying about Lewis' who became a champion for driving a winning car. To be fair to Lewis if Mc Laren really is struggling with what people say "Rear Grip" then perhaps we will see how Lewis is gonna deal with it for the season. In 2008 Fernando Alonso drove a car that was literally drove a car that was uncompetitive compared to Ferrari, Mc Laren and BMW but you can really see him pushing very hard just to try to keep up with the front runners. You can really see him fighting his car as it tries to slide and move away from his controls as he tries to keep up with the front runners. Eventually he still failed to keep up because of the lack of speed of the car. But what performance displayed by the 2 time world champion. For me a world champion has to have those skills. The ability to push a car that's not even that competitive enough to compete with the front runners.

This season too I would really like to see also Sebastian Vettel win more races and get more positions in the podium. Seb is a great driver and he has really showed it last year specially when the weather got bad during a race. Seb was always on the top list nor was even challenging Lewis and passed him during wet races. Seb is a natural talent and at such a young age and more races in his career I think we are looking at a future champion.

And of course Ferrari. My bet this year would still be Kimi. Last year was tough for him as he was not really that happy with the F2008. This year though is a different story as he likes the car better now than last year. I do hope that Ferrari has really got over the reliability issues that they have been experiencing now for years and I think it all started in 2006 and cost them the championship.

Wait in 2 weeks time to see the real story of how the teams have ended up with their designs and let the race answer questions about the speculations of who nailed the design and who made the mistake... Catch the race live here at http://althonealexis.blogspot.com ... Live video feed will be featured on this site on race day March 29, 2009 .... see you!

Geneva Motor Show 2009: Ferrari 599 XX

Bored of your Ferrari FXX? Thought so. But fear not, because over at the Ferrari stand the wraps have just come off its successor - the Ferrari 599XX. It's a hardcore track car designed for rich people with lots of time on their hands. And a slight death wish.

Like the FXX, your money doesn't just buy the car. It buys you a whole development programme, a team of engineers and time on track. You'll need that, as it's far from road legal. Its 6.0-litre V12 (from the 599) has been given a kick up the bum, so it now revs to 9,000rpm. Couple that with 700bhp and things start to look a bit extreme.

Of course, there's carbon everything and it runs on full slick racing tyres, so grip won't be a problem. Unless it's wet, in which case you'll crash hard. The price for all this is yet to confirmed, but best to plan a lottery win before slapping down a deposit.

Expect it to be bought by those loyal Ferrari Rich Playboy Clients which will then become their "Client Test Drivers".

Also, the Ferrari 599 with the new HGTE handling pack was also unveiled alongside the 599XX. It has stiffer springs and a rear anti-roll bar as well as new, sharper settings for the magnetic dampers. It also gets grippier tyres and a louder exhaust through which carnage can be unleashed.

Amazingly, Ferrari has made the gearchange more rapid too. Considering it's already one of the quickest in the business, we reckon that's deeply impressive.

More about the Ferrari 599 XX to follow...

//:: Hundrerds of Whales rescued in the Philippines

If you stand right next to a fish pond and see hundreds of colorful carps. You'd probably say "Woooooowwww!" ......... But what if your standing right at the shores of Manila Bay and right in front of you are hundreds of "Mellon Headed Whales". What would you say? Or How would you react? I'd go...

"Holy Mother!!!! It's an invasion!"

A very confusing day as local fishermen and villagers from Bataan witnessed a very rare site. 250 to 300 of Mellon Headed Whales swimming towards the shallow waters of Bataan.

Pictures from Bataan, Local fishermen and villagers try to block the dolphins to keep them from heading towards the dangerous shallow waters.
Normally, dolphins & whales come to rest on the shallow waters of Bataan when they are sick or wounded. But, they say they come here alone or sometimes in pair. They haven't seen anything like this. Speculations around says they're fleeing from a "heat wave or disturbance at sea such as a major underwater earthquake or they may be following their sick or injured leader.

Here's a picture of my Sister Ana "ana bee" Borja saving a sick whale. Photo from Yahoo news.

Some of the sick whales where taken to Subic for treatment as seen on this video below...

So what caused this incident? Why would hundreds of whales flee to shallow waters? Where they really disturbed? Of what? Underwater earthquake? Or perhaps submarines from other countries? :)

//:: Sebastian Vettel on with the F1 2009 Season

Sebastian Vettel. A future champion I should say, The youngest ever to win a Grand Prix at 21! When he stepped into a cockpit of a formula 1 car to race. People knew he would deliver and would be very competitive. Sebastian (BMW 3rd & test driver) drove for BMW to replace Robert Kubica during the US Grand Prix in 2007 after big big shunt at the Canadian Grand Prix a fort night. At the qualifying he showed great determination as he placed 7th on the grid. For a rookie, a 19 year old kid, driving an F1 car in a race. It was, an astonishing performance!

When Robert Kubica came back to race on the next race, the French Grand Prix. Sebastian gave the car back to Robert and sit back as a reserve driver. Because of his performance during the Recent US Grand Prix. It caught the attention of Scuderia
Toro Rosso Team and offered him a race seat for 2008. After a bad start of the season. Finally, Sebastian won a Grand Prix. The Italian Grand Prix will be a very memorable experience for the Sebastian and the Team. Not only as it's Sebastian's first ever GP win but also the teams first ever GP win and to top it all. It's the teams home Grand Prix! The Italian based Scuderia Toro Rosso is partly owned by Red Bull Racing. In which in 2009 will have a driver line-up change due to the departure of retiree David Coulthard. It was a great moment for Sebastian as he showed Dietrich Mateschitz (Red Bull owner) that he is a very quick and good driver and that he will be the one to be ranked up the scale, moved up to the mother team of Red Bull and replace David Coulthard. In 2009 Sebastian will be teaming up with Mark Webber and they will be campaigning for the 2009 season. With all the changes in rules in Formula 1 this coming season. I am hoping for Red Bull to have a very good season with such a strong driver line-up.

Click Here to view a video animation of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber of how their 2009 car, The Renault powered RB5 will look like. Also Sebastian Vettel explained the differences of the designs of the 2008 car and 2009 car. Sebastian also explained the KERS system concisely that even your grand mother would understand and tells us how he is looking forward for the coming season as the slicks are back!

//:: The Michael Schumacher World Champion Tower?

So what does the 7 time Formula One World Champion have in mind after leaving Formula One? You see because he is still connected with Ferrari... working on the race and road cars, that means it's unlikely for him to put up his own F1 team like former F1 drivers Sir Jackie Stewart or Gerhard Berger and so on... How about? Putting up a charity like most Hollywood faces do? Or create his own racing series?

Hmmm... Well no! None of it will work for Michael Schumacher. You see Formula 1 is an open floodgate of money. Drivers are paid a millionsssssss and millionsssss of Euros each year. That includes the team salary, sponsorship money, TV appearances and so on and so on....

How about building a billion dollar wharf skyscraper! A skyscraper where the super-rich will be able to live in unrivalled plushness. Wanna know where he's building it? In Abu Dhabi!A few known facts about the skyscraper:
1.) It will be one of the 7 luxurious skyscrapers Michael will be building (Mind you, each one of them will represent Michael Schumacher’s championships)
2.) This 1 will stand 787 feet tall
3.) 60 floors and 40 apartments and will be constructed on it's own island.

In three (3) years, you'll be able to buy a swanky apartment at the Michael Schumacher World Champion Tower in Abu Dhabi. Andddddd, like on the track he doesn't like to give it just a go and ease it a bit ... He always drives full on and flat out! So... (4.)you'll be able to park your yacht outside (making it the world's first wharf skyscraper), the (5)underground car park is set in an aquarium and there's (6)tennis courts and a driving range 115 meters in the air.

"Sooo... dreaming now? ... I bet your hoping now that your Paris Hilton's brother aeeey?"
